Determination of antioxidant activity, total phenolic, and total flavonoid contents from avocado seeds (Persea americana)

Abstract In this study, the antioxidant activity, total phenolics, and flavonoids of avocado seed extract were determined. The evaluation was observed towards methanol ethyl acetate fractions by using spectrophotometric method. activity determined calculating 50% inhibition concentration free radical scavenging DPPH radicals. results showed that IC 50 66 mg/mL 63 mg/mL, respectively. phenolic content fraction almost similar at 48.6–48.7 mg/g dry weight (gallic acid equivalent). Whereas flavonoid as 41.2–41.4 (quercetin compounds present in seemed to account for activity. Therefore, seeds are a potential source compounds.
